Daniel G Lyman, LCSW, MPA is a psychotherapist and Executive Director of the Portland, OR-based Mind Body Therapy Center. He specializes in the treatment of chronic pain, anxiety, OCD, depression, and sexuality. He earned both a master’s degree in Social Work and Public Administration from the University of Southern California. He has been featured in various media outlets including PsychologyToday, Whole Life Times, The Back Doctors Podcast, Elevation Recovery, and many others. He authored a chapter in the preeminent text for Mindbody practitioners Psychophysiologic Disorders: Trauma Informed, Interprofessional Diagnosis and Treatment. He has been working in healthcare for over a decade, and is currently a clinical supervisor at the Pain Psychology Center in Los Angeles. He has worked with thousands of clients to overcome pain on 6 continents (still waiting on Antarctica). Beyond his work in the mental and medical health field, Daniel is a playwright, runner, and dog-lover.

Jamie Shafir

Jamie Shafir, LCSW is a therapist and health coach based in San Diego, CA. She has worked and volunteered with individuals from ages five to seventy-five. Jamie specializes in evidence-based cognitive and somatic approaches to treat chronic pain. She is trained in and practices: Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy, as well as Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. Jamie also has extensive experience developing and delivering adolescent and teen focused programs. She pulls from her breadth of training and clinical experience to tailor and provide her youngest clients developmentally appropriate services through a chronic pain informed lens. 

She earned her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California, where she was awarded the Order of Arête, the highest honor accorded to graduate students, for notable contributions to the community. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociocultural Anthropology and minored in Human Rights from the University of California San Diego. Beyond her work, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family and baking.

Daniel Gaines, LCSW

Daniel Gaines, LCSW is a psychotherapist and mental health coach based in Los Angeles, CA. After finding his own relief from both chronic pain and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), he was motivated to become a therapist and received his Masters Degree from California State University Northridge. Daniel treats chronic pain, OCD and anxiety using a variety of modalities, including Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention. Due to his personal experience with both OCD and chronic pain, he is uniquely aware of how these two conditions can interact as well as effective techniques for treating them. He aims to help clients transform the situations that cause them pain as they discover and pursue the things that matter most to them in life, all while learning to be kind to themselves along the way. Outside of work, Daniel enjoys hiking, drawing, and watching animated films. In addition to virtual sessions, he is now offering in-person hiking sessions in the Los Angeles area.

Ted Howard, MA, AMFT, APCC is a mind-body therapist and health coach with a passion for helping sufferers of chronic pain and illness address the emotional causes of their symptoms in order to restart living a comfortable pain free life. Ted finished his own personal journey with chronic pain by becoming a patient of NYU’s Dr. John Sarno over 20 years ago. With a profound understanding of connecting emotions to physical symptoms Ted vowed to share what he has learned and help countless pain sufferers find the same relief he did by implementing Sarno’s invaluable research. Ted has years of coaching pain clients under his belt, and a Master of Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. In his free time he enjoys working on cars, attending comedy shows, and spending as much time in the ocean as possible.

Gabrielle Jacobs, MSW, CADC

Gabrielle Jacobs, MSW, CADC is a psychotherapist based in Portland, OR. Gabrielle received a master’s degree in Social Work, with an emphasis on Adult Mental Health and Wellness, from the University of Southern California, and she earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Yale University. She has previous experience treating substance-use disorders. Outside of work, Gabrielle enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and cooking.

Dr. Cheryl Lane is a psychotherapist based in Portland, OR, who specializes in the treatment of chronic pain, anxiety, depression, OCD, and related disorders using PRT and other therapeutic modalities. Cheryl obtained her Doctor of Psychology degree and has years of clinical experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of settings, including a college counseling center, community mental health, private practice, inpatient psychiatric units, and hospital emergency rooms. She strives to create an emotionally safe therapeutic relationship with her clients by using empathy, mindfulness, and a touch of playful humor. A native Oregonian, Cheryl enjoys spending her free time enjoying the outdoors, reading, creating art, and concocting anything that involves chocolate.

Hannah West, MSW

Hannah West, MSW, is a psychotherapist & health coach based in New York, NY. Hannah utilizes a mind-body approach to treating chronic pain, integrating modalities such as Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) in order to identify the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional roots of chronic pain symptoms. Hannah’s specializes in working with individuals who have chronic pelvic pain. Her personal experience in overcoming neuroplastic pelvic pain is what ignited her interest in this field and what allows her to connect with her clients in a deep and meaningful way.

Hannah earned her master's degree from the Columbia University School of Social Work. She brings her warm, empathetic, and compassionate nature to all areas of her work. Hannah is a Certified Holistic Health and Wellness Coach. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family, taking hot yoga classes, and walking her dog Sadie in Central Park.

Kylie Davis is a current graduate student at the Columbia University School of Social Work, where she will receive her masters degree.  Her 15+ years of experience in financial restructuring and entrepreneurship have allowed her to develop skills in managing teams, supporting clients through challenging times, mediating interpersonal conflict, and coaching others as they grow into their potential and pursue their professional and artistic dreams. 

Kylie was drawn to this field by her personal experiences overcoming neuroplastic pain and chronic illness. She is trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, as well as Emotional Awareness and Expression therapy.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her trusty canine companion, attempting to play various musical instruments, and rollerskating.

Rebecca Kennedy, MD

Dr. Kennedy has been a family medicine physician for over 20 years with a lifelong interest in the mind-body connection and the body’s ability to heal itself. She worked at Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Oregon for 15 years and developed an intense curiosity to find better ways to help patients the current medical model fails. After years of searching, she found the groundbreaking work of Drs. Howard Schubiner and David Clarke and undertook extensive training in the model. She worked with hundreds of patients in the integrative clinic at Kaiser Permanente using this mind-body approach over several years. She ran the long COVID specialty group for the entire Northwest Kaiser Permanente region where she assessed hundreds of patients with long COVID, restoring many of them to good health with this mind-body approach. Witnessing the transformative impact of this model, Dr. Kennedy left Kaiser in 2023 to establish her own clinic and focus exclusively on mind-body medicine, called Resilience Health Care in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Clarke is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology Emeritus and Assistant Director at the Center for Ethics at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) where he teaches PPD to Internal Medicine Residents.

Dr. Clarke is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and practiced Gastroenterology in Portland, Oregon from 1984 to 2009.  During that time he diagnosed and treated over 7000 PPD patients.  His book for patients with PPD, They Can’t Find Anything Wrong!, was praised as "truly remarkable" by a past president of the American Psychosomatic Society and described as "wonderful" by the founder of the Gastroenterology Dept at Yale University. 

Dr. Clarke lectures on PPD frequently throughout North America and Europe and he has appeared on over 100 TV and radio broadcasts. His website is StressIllness.com.

David Hanscom, MD

Dr. Hanscom is an orthopedic complex spinal deformity surgeon who was based in Seattle, WA for over 32 years. He quit his surgical practice in 2019 to focus on teaching people how to break loose from the grip of chronic mental and physical pain – with and without surgery.
